What was the challenge?
Financial education only works if teenagers stay engaged, and schools will only sign up if they can trust the platform with their students’ data. FinMPower needed both from the start.
What did we build?
- Learning that feels familiar: course cards, progress tracking, and XP levels that reward finished lessons and passed quizzes.
- Video lessons students have to watch properly, with notes saved as they go.
- Accessibility built in: dark mode and a dyslexia-friendly font.
- Privacy by design: the platform operator can’t see individual students’ names or emails, and no single person can permanently delete a student record.
Where does AI come in?
FinMPower is designed around an AI tutor that answers students’ money questions in plain English, at their own pace, inside the same privacy protections as the rest of the platform.
What did we add beyond the brief?
Several of the data protections weren’t in the original brief. We added them because a platform holding data about young people should be built that way from day one.
How do the parts fit together?
- Students: lessons, quizzes and progress.
- School admins: hold their students’ details.
- Platform operator: sees totals only.
- Inside the privacy wall: Students, School admins.
