Finland for Startups: Exploring Nordic Opportunities

We had a great time attending Finland for Startups, organized by THub today. The event offered valuable insights into the Nordic startup landscape and the opportunities Finland presents for international founders.

The session kicked off with Hanna Riski from Business Finland sharing what the country offers international startup founders. We then heard from Jochen Faugel and Katerina Eskelinen from Business Helsinki about their Sisu Launchpad program, which gives founders a week-long experience of the Finnish startup scene.

Murat Demirez from the City of Tampere presented an interesting perspective on how Tampere's tech infrastructure could support Indian startups, particularly in the journey from code to chip development. The highlight was a fireside chat with Kevin Jacob, CEO and Founder of thinnan, who shared his firsthand experience of starting a company in Finland.

It was fascinating to learn about Finland's startup ecosystem and the support structures they've built for international entrepreneurs. The Nordic approach to innovation and their focus on deep tech resonated with many of the challenges we see UK startups facing.
